लिखा तो था इक खत मैंने,

अपने मोहब्बत के नाम,

बस काश कि मै उसे दे पाया होता

करता तो था मोहब्बत उनसे दिलोजान से,

बस काश कि उसे लफ्जों में बयां कर पाया होता

युं तो तेरे आँखों में झलकता था मेरा प्यार

बस काश कि उसे बाहों में तराशा होता

कुछ बातें भी हो जाती थी हमारी

बस काश कि बातों बातों में ही

दास्तां-ए-दिल तुसे मैं बोला होता

आज तू मेरी होती और मैं तेरा होता

जिन्दगी अपनी होती इश्क भी अपना होता।
